Privacy policy

Calculations run entirely in your browser — the numbers you type into a calculator are not sent to us. We use Google Analytics to count visits and Google AdSense to show ads that keep the site free. Both use cookies, and you decide whether those ads are personalized through the consent banner. We never sell your personal information.

The one exception to “stays in your browser” is the plain-English ask bar: when you type a question there, the text you typed is sent to our parsing service to translate it into calculator inputs. Nothing else about you is attached to it.

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment details. Through Google Analytics we collect standard, aggregated usage data: pages viewed, approximate location (country/region, derived from IP — the IP itself is not stored by us), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This tells us which calculators are useful; it does not identify you personally.

If you email us at hello@askanumber.com, we keep your message so we can reply and, if you reported an error, fix it.

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. We use two kinds:

• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — count visits and measure which pages are used. Set only after you accept.
• Advertising cookies (Google AdSense and its partners) — used to serve and measure ads. If you decline personalization, ads are still shown but are non-personalized (based on general context, not your browsing history).

We also store one small item in your browser to remember your consent choice and your light/dark theme preference. Those are functional and stay on your device.

We display ads through Google AdSense to keep AskANumber free. As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies to serve ads on this site.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Declining in our consent banner has the same effect on this site.
• You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

When you first visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics and personalized ads. Until you accept, analytics and ad-personalization cookies stay off (this uses Google Consent Mode, which defaults every ad and analytics signal to “denied”). You can change your mind any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back.

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings, and you can use the Google and aboutads.info opt-outs above regardless of your choice here.

AskANumber is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
